The trail continues until it ends a Warrior Park which is the site of more youth ball fields, the high school football and baseball stadiums. There is usually beaver sign in this area. At the center it is said to be bottomless. As you continue along a spur trail takes you the 'Blue Hole' which is a hugh spring that feeds into the middle of the creek. The trail can be accessed at this point also by parking at the Senior Center. A running spring, an island that contains picnic facilities, and the mill dam and pond. That area is now a subdivision.Īlong the trail you pass bridge pilings that supported a bridge from the Thompson home to the mill. It is gererally associated with Buck Creek Cotton Mills which has now been demolished and is the location of City Hall and the Senior Center and Thompson Plantation which is across the creek and was the home of the mills founder. The trail generally follows the creek and where it does not side trails carry you along it.

It begins at Buck Creek Park which has a 1/4 mile paved walking track, play groung, picnic facilities, a youth football field and three sofball fields. All parks have to b.Ī graveled level trail than runs along side or near Buck Creek. I know littering and vandalism is a big issue during the summer. Alabaster has a gem but doesnt keep it polished ! I think to keep people from littering u should have signs as other parks and enforce it. This place is beautiful and I love to walk it but I see it degrading before my eyes. Another issue they need more bathrooms and a port a potty doesnt cut it. So at times this place is beautiful but as I said with summer people are littering / kids are being dumb. So to someone who just comes occasionally it might look nice but there are some major issues with upkeep.

Take care of your park and take pride in it!! This shows me the employees dont give a rats behind. On one of the trails back there it looked like a dump tires in the water, etc. Yes I know its in the woods but other parks have trails in the woods and they don’t look like this. The trails especially the ones in the woods need to b cut back a bit. Since this park is the one nearest to me its where I go. So while the water can b beautiful and I love watching the various birds I see the decline of this park compared to other parks. The best part of this park is the water which at times is filled with trash. Point blank they are not keeping the place up. When limbs fall down they dont pick them up. All I really see them do is cut grass on the baseball fields daily. The park employees dont keep the place clean. Now that school is out I am seeing litter all over the place. So watch where you step!! This lessens your enjoyment and the beauty of the place. Talking about nasty people are supposed to clean up after their dogs they dont and there is no enforcement. Buck Creek’s bathrooms are just plain nasty. I’m used to parks cleaning at least once a day( Lakeside park in Pell City) Lakeside actually does it more cause I watch the guy go around. First off the bathrooms rarely get clean. I have noticed though many things since I walk here almost daily. I’ve been going here for awhile now and at first I thought it was a great park.
